Lyrics:

Stereotype
Monotype
Blood type
Are you my type?
Minimalism
Abstract expressionism
Postmodernism
Is it?

We are the children of concrete and steel
This is the place where the truth is concealed
This is the time when the lie is revealed
Everything is possible, but nothing is real

Corporate religion
Televangahypnotism
Suffer till you die
For the sweet-by-and-by
Science and technology, the new mythology
Look deep inside
Empty

We are the children of concrete and steel
This is the place where the truth is concealed
This is the time when the lie is revealed
Everything is possible, but nothing is real

Everything that goes around
Comes around

Hypothetical
Theoretical
Circumstantial evidence
Irrelevance
Dont think twice
Just roll the dice
Pay the price
Snake eyes

We are the children of concrete and steel
This is the place where the truth is concealed
This is the time when the lie is revealed
Everything is possible, but nothing is real

We are the children of concrete and steel
This is the place where your fate has been sealed
This is the time when your life is revealed
Everything is possible, but nothing is real

Everything that goes around
Comes around...

Are they "really" saying nothing is real? Are they saying everything is irrelevant? Are they advocatings something? Are they advocating "nothing"? Is it just a catching tune with no intended meaning?

Its social commentary based upon the concept of postmodernism which is roughly defined as the fragmentation, disassociation and de-humanization of the self/socio-cultural identity resulting from industrialization, globalization, homogenization, commercialization, and sensory overload by the unreal world of the technosphere...the Matrix or as Pink Floyd defined it "The Machine" so to speak.

It goes back to the idea that we discussed before... about how each of us has two selves the one we put on like a mask everyday for the world and the more mysterious one that is an essence known only to God and perhaps ourselves if we are enlightened or actualized..the more one makes of themselves in order to fit into the World then...the Matrix...the less the true self actually exists.

That's my personal definition that took me ten minutes to think of. If you look up the definitions of post-modernism and wrestle with the complicated and many faceted explanations of it- you'll get some idea of what this song is about.
Is actually very deep.

I equate "everything that comes around- goes around" to certain lessons from the book of Proverbs. Can you guess which ones? We discussed these in about 1984.
